Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..THU.05/05/05 Write down infrequently used procedures. There
are some things you do at intervals just far enough apart you forget how you did
them last time. Which is terribly frustrating, having to learn them all over again.
And again. For example, how you taped a show on your VCR...strung up the Christmas
lights...drove to a particular destination...reset the clock on your answering
machine...changed your wiper blades. As much as you think you'll remember these
routines next time, you won't. So take a brief moment and write them in a notebook
or PDA while they're fresh in your mind. And keep it handy. You won't be kicking
yourself every time something needs redoing. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip If someone isn't interested, let it go. Naturally
we want other people to like what we like, to share our interests and concerns,
to experience for themselves the joy we find in things. We want our children to
partake in the same activities we loved as kids, our friends to marvel at the
movie we found so wonderful, others to take up a cause we deem so important. But
when they show little interest, or don't even respond, we can't understand it.
It distresses us. Why can't they see? Are they ignorant? No. Just different. Look,
it's okay to make your case to someone. But leave it at that. You can't will your
preferences on others. You tried. They declined. So let it go. Just be grateful
you've found what you've found, and hope that they, too, might hit upon something
equally significant. Why make yourself crazy?
