Today's
Stress Tip..by
G. Gaynor McTigue..MON.7/04/05 Don't become addicted to instant gratification. Everybody
today wants results. Now. And woe to those who can't deliver. As if it's our birthright
to get all that we want immediately. We abhor waiting for anything: traffic lights,
meals, store checkouts, repairpersons, winning teams, babies, success...even five
seconds of dead TV air ticks us off. As fast as things are done for us, we demand
even faster. And when it doesn't happen, which is often, we become indignant,
exasperated, stressed out. LET IT GO. Break this unquenchable need for instant
results or you'll never be satisfied with anything. Let life unfold naturally.
Its best and most enduring joys don't happen in a flash...but in their own good
time. Why make yourself crazy? Make StressHoliday.com your home page and be greeted each weekday morning with a new stress-reducing strategy! Based
on G. Gaynor McTigue's acclaimed book Why Make Yourself Crazy? featured
in major publications and on talk shows across America.
Previous Stress Tip Be optimistic...as long as it's realistic. Optimism is great, but if you constantly set your sites much higher than what realistically can be achieved, you may be setting yourself up for frequent disappointment. And that can deflate your optimism over time. By all means live your life optimistically. Just set your goals near enough out there that you can reasonably attain them. That will strengthen and build on your optimism. To the point where you'll become a true optimist -- that is, one who can find the positive in anything, regardless of the negative circumstances. Be optimistic. But realistic, too. Why make yourself crazy?
